Historic Palm Beach Bike Pedal
Join us on a leisurely 7-mile bike ride around Old Palm Beach which promises to bring to life this buttoned-down resort enclave that first became famous as a giddy, 1920’s era playground. We are retracing the Old Lake Trail towards the northern tip of the island as we pass under a cooling canopy of native and exotic trees and manicured flora of every hue. Witness the architectural splendor of Addison Mizner’s Mediterranean-revival palaces set amid the backdrop of semi-tropical seclusion.
Explore the grandeur of “Whitehall,” railroad baron Henry Flagler’s love-inspired, 55-room, 60,000 square foot wedding gift to his wife. This opulent landmark was singularly responsible for establishing the “Palm Beach Season” for the wealthy of the Gilded Era and every era since.
Ride with us and experience the breathtaking views of the Palm Beach Inlet as we double back on the ocean side of the island. Learn how the personalities and stories of prominent families shaped the fabric of this elegant city as you glide by such famous sites as the Kennedy mansion and the Revlon estate. Navigating through the “Styx,” we come upon a few of the oldest cottages in town, carefully preserved for history. Be sure not to miss this invigorating ride through time! -
The Loxahatchee Canoe and Kayak Adventure
Venture into the pristine, subtropical realm of one of the world’s most beautiful and unspoiled waterways: Florida's first federally designated "Wild and Scenic River,” the Loxahatchee. Its narrow winding channels are canopied for much of our route by majestic cypress trees offering the traveler a challenging and fascinating experience.
Let our knowledgeable guides help you discover the extraordinary history of a place once known only to coastal Indians and lonely pioneers. Unlike many other rivers that have been forced into channels by development, this river remains virtually unchanged. Paddle this reminder of Old Florida and explore flora, fauna and history unique to these meandering shorelines. -
Three Little Towns by the Sea
Come with us on a journey celebrating a small corner of Florida’s riveting history. We are visiting the area of the Jupiter Inlet and its tributary waterways up to Hobe Sound that was once home to three little towns by the sea. Recount the collected chronicles of a region that has been at the crossroads of Florida history for over a thousand years. Our first stop is the Nature Conservancy’s Blowing Rocks Preserve, a great example of rare fully restored coastal strand noted for its performing geyser-like rocks that send plumes of water streaming upwards at high tide.
Join us next for an unforgettable lunch in the little seaside town of Jupiter. We dine at the eclectic and ever popular Shipwreck Bar and Grill, restaurant and mini-museum. In addition to the great food and ambiance, you will get to see artifacts and treasures from Jupiter’s own Spanish treasure found a few hundred yards off the Jupiter Inlet. And, you may just meet some real treasure hunters from the crew of the SeaHunter salvage vessel!
Lastly, climb with us up the 108-foot-tall Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. This striking, bright red sentinel rests upon an ancient Indian mound, making the breathtaking view from the top the most stunning in all of Palm Beach County. Delight in the story of this lighthouse which was first lit on July 10, 1860 and has survived wars, hurricanes, fire and the ravages of time to become one of the most romantic and well-loved structures in Florida.
